Here Are The Key Amendments YOU Need To Support!

ECO 346
Illegal Immigrants and Subsidized Housing
Messrs. Hedlund, Lees, Tisei, Tarr, Knapik, Brown moved that the bill be amended by inserting, after Section 100, the following new Section: -
SECTION 1. Section 16C of Chapter 6A of the Massachusetts General Laws is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Section 32 of chapter 121B of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2002 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “paragraph.”, in line 231, the following sentence:- Each housing authority shall also verify the immigration status of each applicant through the INS Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements automated system.

TRIAL COURTS AND IMMIGRATION STATUS
Messrs. Hedlund, Lees, Tisei, Tarr, Knapik, Brown moved that the bill be amended, in Section 2, in item 0330-0300, by inserting at the end thereof the following: “provided further that the immigration status of every defendant should be confirmed at the arraignment stage of a court proceeding.”

RELATIVE TO THE EMPLOYMENT OF ILLEGAL ALIENS

Messrs. Tisei, Lees, Knapik, Tarr, Hedlund and Brown moved that the bill be amended by inserting, after Section___, the following new Section:-
“SECTION___. Section 2 of Chapter 149 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2004 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-
The attorney general shall annually prepare a report detailing all violations of section 19C of this chapter, the nature of said violations, and any enforcement action taken, including any fines assessed against an employer for knowingly hiring illegal aliens. Said report shall be submitted to the House and Senate Committees on Ways and Means and to the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development on or before February 1 of each year.
Section 2. Said chapter 149, as so appearing, is hereby further amended, in section 19C, in line 16, by striking the words “five hundred” and inserting in place thereof the words “ten thousand” and by striking the words “two hundred” and inserting in place thereof the words “five thousand”. ”
